Come, There is Work to be Done!

For many years now, St. Alban Roe parish has offered two options to assist parents in the religious education of their children: the Parish School of Religion (PSR), and the full-time school.  Today, I am thrilled to offer a third opportunity for religious education at St. Alban Roe parish.  It is called Family Formation.

Family Formation is a whole-family approach to religious education, where formation is offered to everyone in the family age 3 and up.  A benefit to whole family catechesis is that, as part of the process, parents are better equipped to hand on their Catholic faith to their children.  Given today’s demands on the time a family spends together, we developed the Family Formation program to give parents time to grow in their faith while not drawing them away from “family time.”

This program offers many unique features for religious education.  It will include a time for praise and worship and age-specific curriculum for children through 8th grade, and a choice of studies for high-schoolers and adults.  Family Formation will also offer regularly scheduled “Family Nights” where the whole family stays together and has an opportunity for fellowship and worship with other families. Vatious activites are planned for these evenings for eapmle for Christmas we had a family friendly lesson on the Jesse Tree followed by a cookie swap.  Family Formation will provide families with a chance for experiencing community while each member develops tools for living our Catholic faith, particularly within the context of the family.

Please look at the formation link and the service link to see which options interest you.  Each adult will pick 1 service option in support of the program and 1 formation option.  Each week adults will alternate bewteen formation and service while the children will go to there formation classes.  Each evening ends in full community with a prayer and song.  The evening ends promplty at 8 pm.

If you are interested in this program please call Jim Blase at 458-2977 x227 or email him at jblase@stalbanroe.org.   Do not contact the PSR department, as this is a separate option from PSR.  This program does fullfill your sacrement training.
